Treavor:

Share the thrilling scene where you experience Naples!

Solar-B:

In Naples and the surrounding areas, Techno and House are a vibrant part of the culture, thriving for many years in the electronic music scene. Afro House also plays a role, though it's not my personal preference. My city passionately embraces music in all its forms, from the intense to the mellow.

Treavor:

Are you diving into the world of DJing, or are you currently rocking the music production scene? If you're DJing, share the exciting story of how and when you started! And what sparked your journey into music production?

Solar-B:

Right now, I'm absolutely thrilled to be both a DJ and a producer! I embarked on my production journey back in 2018, and in 2021, I released my first successful track, which is still captivating listeners today. I dove into production a few years after I began playing the piano and synthesizers, constantly tuning into radio shows, podcasts, and releases from artists I admired back then. That passion pulled me deeper into this exhilarating and ever-evolving world! As for DJing, I kicked off in 2020, driven by the same excitement that got me into producing. I eagerly watched both classic and fresh videos of Tiësto and Armin van Buuren to master their mixing techniques and understand how they crafted their incredible DJ sets.

Treavor:

Who are the amazing people who have inspired you musically?

Solar-B:

When it comes to music, I've been electrified by some incredible legends like Tiësto and

Armin van Buuren, whom I already raved about earlier. But wait, there's more! Jean-Michel Jarre, James Holden, and David Bergeaud have also been monumental in shaping my musical adventure. Flashback to when I was 15 or 16, just kicking off my journey, I was absolutely captivated by the first four tracks of JMJ’s Oxygène. Those sounds were pure magic, and I've been on a mission to capture or transform them with a fresh twist, as you can hear in some of my tracks this year, like Unconscious and Deliverance.

Treavor:

Your sound is incredibly progressive! How did you develop it?

Solar-B:

My progressive side blossomed after years of thrilling experimentation! I transitioned from a

techno-driven vibe, as heard in 'Adrenalina', and revisited it this year with the electrifying Rave & Acid. I evolved towards a sound that's mysterious, refined, and niche, echoing the mid-to-late 2000s but with a modern twist that truly stands out—or at least aims to! Until about five or six years ago, I was all about Uplifting tunes, but diving into the first five chapters of In Search of Sunrise, Nyana, and various releases on Black Hole Recordings, Armada, and their sublabels was like discovering a whole new universe! It was packed with original, captivating tracks that were rarely generic. This journey inspired me to create something that mirrors my unconscious feelings, capturing moments like pausing to admire a breathtaking landscape, diving into introspection, or savoring a late-night movie.

Treavor:

I'm thrilled to dive into your collaboration with Deestopia on Polynesia, which shook the Beatport Raw trance charts, staying in the top 100 for over a month! How did this amazing collaboration come to life? The track is a masterpiece of balance, featuring a progressive mood and a captivating blaric lead that truly shines. It's a stunning showcase of the technical brilliance in music production. What's your process when working with other artists? How do you share the creative workload?

Solar-B:

The first demo of Polynesia emerged in early 2024, but I knew it needed something

extra, something to make it more airy and engaging. By the end of May last year,

after being thoroughly impressed by several tracks from Deestopia, I proposed a collaboration. I sent them the stems and some MIDI files, as that's my preferred method for remote collaborations. The result was outstanding, and despite the time it took for the release, the overwhelming support made it completely worthwhile. I'm eager to collaborate with Deestopia again as soon as we have new ideas.

Treavor:

Unconscious is an absolute masterpiece! How did you come up with the idea? I also adore that it stretches beyond 7 minutes, giving you the chance to fully immerse yourself in the track and savor the complete experience. What inspired this incredible piece?

Solar-B:

The inspiration for Unconscious burst forth from listening to amazing tracks by Leama &

Moor, James Holden, and of course JMJ! Plus, those fresh releases with that deep, hypnotic vibe that have taken the scene by storm in recent years. It took me just a few days to create and finish it, and honestly, it couldn’t have been shorter than seven minutes; it needed to be savored in full. Seeing Paul van Dyk support it on his radio show VONYC Sessions was incredibly satisfying, just like when 'Polynesia' got the same love months earlier. I’m also thrilled about the remix by ORMUS, an artist I've been following for some time.

Treavor:

Out of Sight is an outstanding progressive trance track, and I appreciate its 8-minute length. It never feels repetitive; you've truly mastered the art of tension and release in your music. Can you share your workflow when you enter the studio to create a track like "Out of Sight"?

Solar-B:

For Out of Sight, as with several of my other tracks released this year, I confidently embraced a flexible structure. I began working on it towards the end of 2024 and completed it in early 2025. Initially, I envisioned it evolving into a more Progressive House-oriented piece, perhaps less melodic and without the intricate details I eventually incorporated. While I'm not a fan of 7- or 8-minute-long tracks, I also find tracks under five minutes too brief. Naturally, this is subjective and depends on how you choose to structure a track and the number of ideas you have. In this case, I felt particularly inspired and enjoyed extending its length, incorporating those old-school sound references.

Treavor:

Your tracks are absolutely stunning, clean, and vibrant! How do you create such incredible music? What's your secret process?

Solar-B

Your question is intriguing. When I have an idea, whether it's a melody or a bassline, I either

record it immediately or wait for a superior concept to emerge. I refuse to work hastily or superficially. I frequently use equalizers, such as FabFilter Pro-Q 3, and I take pleasure in shaping and refining sounds until they perfectly match my vision. Occasionally, I adjust the kick midway or at the end of the process because if I'm not convinced, it might take days or weeks before I send a demo. With a reliable compressor like FabFilter Pro-C 2, I consistently achieve excellent results. Like many producers, I often spend considerable time before sending a demo, especially when I have multiple versions and need to choose the best one to send.

Treavor:

Your latest track Gotta Find a Track Feat. Mariel on Animarum Recordings, your

second on the label (if I’m correct), is absolutely stunning! I’m thrilled by the break in

this track. The vocals are mesmerizing and give off those irresistible 80s Italo disco vibes with the adlibs. How did you and Mariel come together for this collaboration, and what was the magic behind recording this track? Did the vocals come first, or was the beat already set?

Solar-B:

Absolutely! This will be my second release on this amazing label owned by the incredible Patrick Scuro, a DJ I truly admire. The collaboration came together so naturally! One night, I decided to step away from my usual Deep/Progressive style to explore something different. I wanted to revive that late '90s/early 2000s vibe reminiscent of 'Top of The Pops', but with a fresh, modern twist. Before diving in, I couldn't shake Mariel’s voice from my mind. She's a singer I've been captivated by, having listened to her tracks on SoundCloud for weeks. Then, inspiration hit! I shared my idea with her—the instrumental version I had at the time—and she was immediately thrilled! Just a few hours later, she sent me a short demo, and I knew we were onto something great. I was blown away! Collaborating with her was such a pleasure, and her voice is truly remarkable. I wouldn't hesitate to work with her again!

Treavor:

What are your favorite go-to plug-ins? What's the must-have hardware in your studio that you can't live without?

Solar-B:

I confidently produce using just a laptop and Cubase as my DAW. In addition to the plugins I mentioned before, FabFilter Pro-Q 3 and  FabFilter Pro-C 2. I also utilize Valhalla VintageVerb, Valhalla Supermassive, and Soundtoys Echoboy. The latter two were applied to Mariel’s vocals in our track, along with the FabFilter Volcano 2 flanger and phaser.

Treavor:

What exciting advice would you offer to a rising producer?

Solar-B:

To an emerging producer, I offer a few crucial pieces of advice. Simply put: take action, talk less. Passion, drive, and consistency are vital; don't be discouraged by low plays or sales. A true producer is dedicated to creating art and improving when needed. Always listen to a track multiple times before exporting and sending it to a label to avoid unnecessary disappointment. Yes, sometimes labels may overlook talented artists, but that shouldn't deter anyone from persisting, as I have done and continue to do. A bit of self-criticism can be beneficial.

Thank you so much for your time! We can't wait to see what's next for 2026, and with that, we conclude our interview with Solar-B. His single Gotta Find a Track is now available on Beatport.
